Liquor

Liquor Liability Insurance Coverage helps protect your business against claims that may occur because a patron of your business has become intoxicated and injured himself or someone else.

If your business manufactures, sells, serves, or furnishes alcohol to others. Liquor Insurance Coverage is usually purchased by bars, pubs, wineries, breweries, bartending services, and restaurants that serve alcoholic beverages. While it’s logical that the intoxicated person should be the one to pay, in reality, the entity that served the alcohol could be held liable for injuries, damages, or both that occurred as a result of actions, behaviors, or conduct of a patron who drank too much.

Liquor Liability Insurance Coverage may be purchased separately or in combination with General Liability Insurance. It should be noted that a General Liability Insurance policy includes host liquor liability coverage only and this covers your liability as a social host. Additionally, your General Liability Insurance policy will not help protect your business against liquor-related claims if you are in the business of manufacturing, selling, serving or furnishing alcoholic beverages.

Aside from investing in liquor liability insurance, establishments should be proactive in limiting their liquor-induced claims, you can reduce your chances of having to deal with a liquor liability claim by implementing and enforcing safe alcohol serving practices.
